there's something about the mountain

There's something about the mountains. Your skin feels fresher, your hair feels glossy, breathing becomes easier and all your troubles are left at the bottom of the valley. People living on a mountain live longer. It's a fact. Probably not a direct result of their glossy hair, but every little helps.

Yesterday was the 1st December and without advent calendars to open (mama and papa hew, sure it just got lost in the post...) we needed to feel festive. So off to Bassano del Grappa we went, in search of a christmas market and mountain air.

Just as we were marvelling at the Dolomiti backdrop and the peace and quiet of the place, we realised we'd spoken too soon. Herds of red lion flags marched towards us, something about liberate somebody or something.
Leaving them to their protests we went to find the christmas market

If you're in Bassano del Grappa, this little rocky beach is exactly where you want to be at around 3pm. The sun slips behind the mountain and it turns every colour of the Dulux red-pink-orange selection. It really is the most beautiful thing.
A beetroot mountain
With our skin a little fresher, our hair a little glossier and our lungs full of fresh mountain air, we made a bee-line back to the mulled wine tent and got one more for the road. It's officially festive time - happy 1st december! (..still waiting on that advent calendar)
